***We ask all residents to set their containers out for collection the night before or by the listed collection time.***
Collection begins: 6:00 a.m.
Trash is collected weekly on Thursdays
Recycling is collected every other week on Wednesdays
Yard Waste Collection
Yard Waste is collected every other week on Fridays between April 1st and November 30th.
Accepted Yard Waste Materials
- Grass clippings
- Tree trimmings** (see exclusions below)
- Hedges and shrub cuttings
- Leaves
- Yard and garden waste
- Organic debris
- Branches/limbs (must meet size rules below)
Excluded Materials
These items will not be collected:
- Tree stumps
- Tree trimmings or limbs longer than 4 feet or thicker than 3 inches
- Commercial yard or garden development/maintenance debris
Weight Limit
Each bag, bundle, or tote must not exceed 40 pounds.
Approved Containers
You may set out yard waste in any of the following:
1. Compostable Yard Waste Bags
- Must be compostable / approved yard waste bags.
- Available at retailers such as Hy-Vee, Menards, Home Depot, and similar stores.
2. Yard Waste Totes
- Must be clearly marked “Yard Waste.”
- Maximum capacity: 45 gallons
- Must have handles and a lid.
3. Bundled / Loose Material
- Must be tied with compostable twine only
- Limbs/branches must be Less than 3 inches in diameter
- Limbs/branches must be Less than 4 feet in length
Christmas Tree Collection

The first Friday the week after New Years we collect Christmas Trees curbside in the city of Hudson.
- Remove all decorations, stands, wires, nails, etc., from your tree
- Cut trees in 5 ft or less lengths
- Place curbside by itself, not in a container or bag
- Tree collection begins at 6 a.m. Please have your trees out by 6 a.m.
- Only real trees are accepted for collection. Fake trees should be broken down and disposed of in the trash.
- Large branched trees should be wrapped with Sisal Twine
