Independence Day 2023

We will be closed Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

If your garbage or recycle pickup is scheduled for Tuesday, please set your container out on Tuesday night for pickup on Wednesday.

Wednesday collections will be completed on Wednesday, except for Fayette County which will be picked up on Thursday

Please set your containers out the night before, We won’t be able to come back for containers that are set out late and route times may vary.

Memorial Day 5/29/23

We will be closed Memorial Day, Monday May 29, 2023.

If your garbage or recycle pickup is scheduled for Monday or Tuesday, we kindly request that you put out your trash container on Monday night for pickup on Tuesday. We won’t be able to come back for containers that are set out late.

In certain rural areas like Denver, Readlyn, the rural areas of Airline, and nearby places, some residential customers may have their pickup delayed until Wednesday. However, it’s important for everyone to still place their containers outside on Monday night because we’ll start our regular Tuesday route on Tuesday afternoon.

5/30/23 Update

Due to unforeseen circumstances, some routes being collected on 5/30/23 have delays. The following have collection delays as stated below:

• Gilbertville Trash and Gilbertville Recycling – Some streets remain uncollected, we will be back Wednesday morning to resume collection.

• Denver Recycle – Some streets remain uncollected, we will be back Wednesday morning to resume collection.

• Rural Northern Waterloo (East of Logan) – Some homes remain uncollected, we will be back Wednesday morning to resume collection.

• Jesup Trash (In Town) – We will be in town Wednesday morning to collect.

• Laporte Commercial Services – We will be collecting this on Wednesday.

• Waterloo Cedar Falls Commercial Cardboard Services – We will be collecting this on Wednesday.

All areas not listed will be collected on their normal scheduled day. Times may vary.

Portable Toilets

It is with regret that we will no longer be providing porta potty services after 4/30/23. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and want to reassure all of our customers that this decision was made after careful consideration and evaluation of our business model, we did not make this decision lightly.

We appreciate the trust and loyalty that has been placed in our company. As a business committed to excellence in customer service, we will continue to focus on delivering high-quality solutions in all other areas of our operations.

We will be arranging for the removal of all porta potties currently in service at the end of this month. Should any questions arise or concerns regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us.

January 19, 2023

Due to the icy snowy conditions, residents on rural gravel roads are currently experiencing pickup interruptions.

We apologize for the interruption in collection. Our drivers have been instructed to pick up extra bags during next pickup at residents who are affected by this interruption.


Areas currently affected are rural gravel roads in Bremer county and Fayette county.

We ask all customers with dumpsters to please make sure your dumpsters and enclosures are clear of snow and salted/sanded for safe service.

January 3, 2023

Due to the icy conditions, there will be some gravel roads that are being considered as unsafe to travel and we will not be able to collect trash for roads that are iced over.

We apologize for the interruption in service in the affected areas, for areas affected we will collect extra trash at the affected locations next week.

Collection for December 22, & December 23

Due to the weather, the landfill being closed, and for the safety of our employees; There are currently significant interruptions in collection for Thursday, December 22 & Friday, December 23.

IN City Limit residential trash collection will still be picked up on Thursday, weather permitting.

Rural residential trash collection for Thursday and Friday, will not be picked up until your next scheduled pickup date. This includes residential curbside and residential dumpsters.

Please bag your extra trash, and set it next to your container. We will pick up extra you have, on your next scheduled pickup date. If you have a spare container, it is advised to put any bagged extra trash inside a spare container, to prevent it from being buried under the snow and missed.

If you do not have a Black Hawk Waste container, and would like one, please let us know. We provide rental for our customers at no additional charge.

High Traffic commercial businesses will be collected as quickly as possible, some commercial businesses will not be dumped until the next collection date.

We apologize for the interruption, and will resume services as weather permits.

Holiday Schedule

With Christmas and New Years falling on Sunday this year, we wanted to let all of our customers know, we will be picking you up on your regular scheduled days.

Christmas Tree Collection – January 6, 2023

We will be collecting real Christmas Trees January 6, 2023 for the city of Hudson. To ensure collection please abide by the following requirements

  • Remove all decorations, stands, wires, nails, etc, from your tree
  • Cut trees in 5 foot or less lengths
  • Place your tree curbside, not in a container or bag
  • Trees should be curbside by 6 a.m.
  • Fake trees are not accepted for Christmas Tree Collection
